Kids are great!
Kids are so uninhibited! Since we have been using the laptops in my first grade classroom, the kids just jump in and go with it! It is so amazing to watch them. I used my white board and projector to show the class how to get started in Pixie, and they immediately jumped in to try it. We are writing a class book, and they are having a ball working on their own pages. Instead of waiting until I feel comfortable with the technology, I'm going to put it out there for them to try......'cause they are much less inhimited than I am!

Ooops! Ah yeah!
I have learned to have a back up lesson on hand. Today for example, my students were to record their scary plays on Audacity. Once they had booted up, Audacity did not respond. What to do with 12 middle school discipline students....? Well, we opened up IFrames and went through and learned about how to set a frame based on their scary stories. So tomorrow hopefully Audacity will respond, if not we will finish our "scary short animations".
Lesson learned: always have a back up in case the technology goes down :-)

Welcome
This blog is for the main purpose of showcasing what we are accomplishing in Okeechobee County through the Enhancing Education Through Technology (EETT) grant. We are very excited about the new technologies that were introduced to our classrooms and the enormous amount of professional development that we are receiving. We will be posting thoughts, comments, ideas, suggestions, and experiences from the classroom, here on our Blog. Please come back on a regular basis to catch up on what we are doing.
